🎤 Flin Flon Songwriter Steps into the National Spotlight with “Raven”
🎶 About the Song: "Raven"
“Raven” is taken from Trubiak’s third studio album, McBain, released in late 2017. The emotionally resonant track was co-written with close friend Aileen Martella and features local collaborators Erick Bergman and Brent Lethbridge.
The decision to enter “Raven” was fueled by fan response.
“It’s a song that people have really responded to,” said Trubiak. “The feedback has been amazing, and I felt like this might be the one worth submitting.”
❤️ A Push from Home
Behind the submission was a simple, heartfelt nudge from Trubiak’s fiancé, Alain Lachapelle, who encouraged him with a text message that simply read:
“You need to do this. McBain.”
That encouragement sparked a wave of local support, with fans, friends, and community members rallying around Trubiak’s entry.
“If people believe in me, I’m going to try this,” he said. “The floodgate of encouragement has been amazing. People are saying, ‘We’ll vote for you every day!’ That’s a really sweet thing.”

Interestingly, the contest launch coincided with Trubiak’s sunny vacation. Even while away, he was on the lookout for Wi-Fi—eager to share updates with his fans and promote his CBC Searchlight entry.
“The clock’s a-ticking, right?” Trubiak joked.
🎯 The Bigger Picture
While winning would be a dream come true, Trubiak remains grounded. For him, spreading the message of his album McBain and staying authentic are what matter most.
“I’ll be really honest—I’m not holding out any grand expectations of winning this thing. I just want to try,” he said.
“I’m trying to embrace the fear and the experience.”
